Ferrocerium Rod
Hold ferrocerium rod firmly in one hand and use edge to scrape downward along rod. Aim sparks directly into tinder bundle to ignite quickly. Keep hand steady while pulling steel upward in controlled motion.
Bow Drill
Place divot hole over top of bow drill spindle, securing it during drilling. Use controlled, consistent pressure to avoid overheating hand. If it heats up, insulate with green leaves, fabric, or gloves for comfort.
Flint Stone & Charred Canvas
Break flint until it has sharp edge, then hold with char cloth on top. Strike flint with flat edge in smooth, glancing motion to generate sparks. When spark lands on char cloth, blow gently until it glows and transfer into tinder bundle to build flame.
