Workhorse axe for fieldwork, outback and basecamp. This axe is hand-forged by master blacksmiths from Wuppertal, Germany. The steel is stuck several times, increasing its density and, thereby, the durability of the axe. Helko's forging tradition goes as far back as 1844. The hatchet blade design offers an extended blade, making this axe exceptionally suitable for splitting, carving and cutting.
The shaft is made from hickory and treated with boiled linseed oil to create a barrier that repels water and prevents swelling, shrinking or cracking caused by moisture changes. The hand-stitched leather strike guard protects the shaft closest to the axe head in the event of an overstrike. The edge of the hatchet is protected by a leather sheath protected and secured by a press stud.
The hatchet is used for almost any task in the forest, but first and foremost for campsite work, such as collecting and processing firewood and building shelter. Take care of your hatchet and it will stay a faithful companion for many years to come.
— Works well with C100 Nubuck Gloves and FGL401 Work Belt.
